Beliefs

To express unafraid and unabashed what one really thinks and feels is one of the great consolations of life.

I believe that it is better to tell the truth than to lie. I believe that it is better to be free than to be a slave. And I believe that it is better to know than to be ignorant.

Who dares not speak his free thoughts is a slave.

We hold these truths to be sacred and undeniable: that all men are created equal and independent, that from that creation they derive rights inherent and inalienable, among which are the preservation of life and liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Respect for liberty in the personal concerns of each is an established principle.

The earth is the common property of the human race, and of every living thing.

Better to die on one's feet than to live on one's knees.

To die for an idea is to place a pretty high price upon conjecture.

After all it is setting a high value on our opinions to roast men and women alive on account of them.

Every idea is a source of life and light which animates and illuminates the words, facts, examples and emotions that are dead, or deadly, and dark without them.

For as there are misanthropists, or haters of men, there are also misologists, or haters of ideas, and both spring from the same cause, which is ignorance of the world.

All erroneous ideas would perish of their own accord if expressed clearly.

Man is a being born to believe, and if no church comes forward with all the title deeds of truth, he will find alters and idols in his own heart and his own imagination.

Believe in yourself, and accept yourself for who you are. Temper your fears with the knowledge that you always have the capacity to improve.

Every day, in every way, I am getting better.

They can because they think they can.

You are a child of the Universe, no less than the moon and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the Universe is unfolding as it should. - Max Ehrmann

Our life is what our thoughts make it. - Marcus Aurelius

Think highly of yourself because the world takes you at your own estimate. - Anonymous
